Information

Ecological parameter:  resistance forms according to Tachet

Parameter group: life parameters

Explanation:
In especially unfavorable conditions, some invertebrate species can develop specific survival strategies. Diapausing/dormant eggs, but also gemmula (Porifera) or statoblasts (Bryozoa) are one of these resistance forms (category "egg"). Larvae or adults of several species of invertebrates can elaborate protective cocoons ("coc") or housings against dessication ("hou"). Many species may diapause ("did") as larvae (e.g. various molluscs and arthropods) or adults (e.g. diapausing troglophile caddisflies). Five categories have been defined.

Additional information:
Note that Several classifications of the Tachet database are on higher taxonomic level than on species level. To display them in the list please enable "include higher taxonomic units" in the "advanced search".
