Information

Ecological parameter:  food according to Tachet

Parameter group: life parameters

Explanation:
Nine categories have been defined. Invertebrate food may be composed of detritical organic (mainly vegetal) material, with a variable proportion of fine mineral elements and microorganisms. This material has been separated according to particle size in three categories ("mior", "detl1", "dpg1" in the table below). Dead animal material has been included in a specific category ("dag1"). Food may be also composed of living organisms. Living microphytes ("limi"; lato sensu; e.g. diatoms, hyphomycetes, etc) have been distinguished from macrophytes ("lima"; e.g. filamentous algae, bryophytes, Dycotyledones), and microinvertebrates ("lmic"; e.g. meiofaunal crustaceans) from both macroinvertebrates ("lmac") and vertebrates ("vert"; e.g. fish eggs or larvae).

Additional information:
Note that Several classifications of the Tachet database are on higher taxonomic level than on species level. To display them in the list please enable "include higher taxonomic units" in the "advanced search".
