Explanation:
The "German Fauna Index" is a generic term and summarises a variety of individual indices specific to water body types. It is based on species-specific assessments. Taxa that are characteristic for a water body type and/or indicate the presence of ecologically valuable structures are given indication values of +2 or +1 (depending on suitability strength), taxa that indicate disturbances are given values of -1 or -2. The fauna index is displayed for the individual water body types of Germany.
