Explanation:
Phytoguilds describe the feeding ability of phytoplankton species and follow the classifications of the PhytoLoss evaluation tool (www.phytoloss.de). According to Deneke et al. (2015), phytoplankton taxa are divided into 12 guilds and represent a reduction of the classification of phytoplankton into "morpho-functional groups" by Salmaso & Padisák (2007).
